It’s almost two weeks since I left Hawaii. But I felt like I had to post a last time with the things I did before I left. I’ve planed on writing a long time, but as soon as I come home from work I fall asleep in the couch.
The waves were really big before we left. Up to 20 foot hawaiian in Waimea Bay. But even if we went up in the middle of the night it wasn’t big enough for eddie to go.. With or without the contest the waves were mighty. And our friend Matt got the chance to be out in the water for a longer time.
We also got the chance to come back to the beautiful east side of Oahu. Sadly I got sick at lunch and had to go home and stay in bed for three days. No need for details but I didn’t have much left in my stomach the 8:th time..
We had a lot to do in the office the last week. So not much time over for fun there.. But we got permission to go to the beach at lunchtime the last day. So we got our last surf before we went home again. Even if we don’t have any pictures of us really catching waves, I don’t care. It’s all saved inside me!
I’ll have to change name on the blog so that I can continue to post when next thing in my life happens.

Pearl Harbour and skating along the beach

They say you can’t go to Hawaii without visiting Pearl Harbour. I totally agree. You can get so much history and recognize the places on the islands for free, and for 20$ you can board one of the ships from the war. Especially if you’ve been in the army or is a little bit more into history than the average person. They had Bofors canons on the boat! 40 mm. It must have been the same basis as we had in our armored vehicle.
The boat was so big, not to mention the canons! It’s sick when you think about how long time ago the were built. And how the could reload them and get the ammunition up from the lower deck. As you understand I liked it a lot!
After the history lesson we when to the beach in Ala Moana. We brought our longboards so we had a good time, just cruzin around. On the beach I won my first yatzy round for a long time. Then we finished the day by going to the cinema and saw True Grit. We had so good timing with the busses all the day!

One day with Wes and his young skaters

Maybe you didn’t know it, but we live on Ohai street in Wahiawa. This is a gnarly area. The amount of drugs and crime is among the highest on Hawaii. Most kids that live here have a rough childhood.
One way for us to reach them and make their lives better and funnier is through skating. Wes is a dedicated skater here on stn that really have got a heart for this kids. Once a week he take three boys to the skatepark and tech them skating. To increase there opportunity for being better at skating he took them to the shop to buy shoes and other equipment. But he wants to give lessons and equipment to more kids. So I went with them to make a video so that more people can see what he’s doing and support him with money and equipment. When we jumped out of the plane

Since we came to stn people have been talking about that you must take the opportunity to skydive when you are here. I agree with them now! Not that it gave the rush of my life but it was an experience for sure.
We went to “Hawaiin skydivers” before noon and sign a lot of papers about the we won’t sue them if we died or got injured. I even sign on “I voluntarily risk my life by jumping”. After a lot of waiting, with danish people getting over excited after their jumps, it was our turn to go up. On our way up the pilot solved crosswords. We went to 4200 m and then we jumped with a person on our backs. I liked the first seconds best we you realize the you are falling through the air with nothing but a belt around your body.
The view over North shore and the mountains was adorable! The waves was big today so you could se the lines all along the shore. Then he did some turns that felt like a carrousel and then we landed. I don’t want to do a tandem jump again but to be the first time it was fun.
Try it if you get the opportunity. It’s not that scary!

New Year under the palms

Both Michaela and Johanna have their families on visit over Christmas and New Year. So we took the opportunity to celebrate the transfer to 2011 with them. Isakssons ordered a table on a hotel in Waikiki. We ate a buffet with everything from noodles to oyster. I’ve been eating better food but it was fun to try all this expensive and rare things like “snow leg crab”.
I had a good time with good friends. With everyone in food coma we left the hotel and walk across the street to the beach. It was a lot of people out and we found a nice spot in the grass under the trees. All the fireworks where fired from a boat so we could se everything very clear. In the reflections from the fireworks you could see surfers in the water. It’s so weird not to freeze you toes of at new years eve. But I could live with that..

We’ve been renting a car during the Christmas break. Because of his registration plate, with the numbers 007, James was the obvious name. Under these days we’ve been surfing, going to the beach and other trips with him.
This last day we drove half around Oahu. First we went up to the top in north, then we drove down along the east side. We tried to find secret spots and hidden beaches everywhere we different results.. But it was a fun and beautiful day for sure!
The mountains are so mighty seen from the other side. Also there is areas with really nice houses which can be fun to se sometimes.
In the morning it was raining but the weather got better and in the afternoon the sky was blue. We tried to catch the sunset in Waikiki but the heavy traffic stopped us.. Hope you’ve had as good Christmas break as me!

Christmas Eve

I can’t believe that it’s Christmas eve today! I haven’t done anything that I use to do at december 24:th. I didn’t have a sock by my bed that mum and dad use to fill with a note about how much they love me, candy and donald duck. I didn’t eat christmas bread with christmas cheese for breakfast with a gingerbread shaped as a pig. And thats only the first 30 minutes of my regular christmas!
No, today I have been eating yoghurt with cereals for breakfast, then we went surfing! It was me, Cobe, Jonathan, Linda and the Isaksson family. It was a lot of people out and small waves so I’ve had better surf days for sure.. But we had a good time in the water anyway.
Now I am in the office trying to work a little bit on Wes skate film. At 7 pm it’s time for some christmas celebrations with food, gift games and the swedish “Kalle Ankas Jul”.
We’ve had a lot to do in the office now before the christmas break, and I need to spend some ours here during the break to.. But it’s okey, I like working with creative things! And it’s raining here in Wahiawa now so..

When Glenn took us to Sandy’s

Last Saturday we went back to the East Cost. Me, Jonathan, Cobe, Johanna and Hanna did a road trip with Glenn(Johanna and Hanna’s lovely car). The weather was perfect all day, and the waves at Sandy’s was good. The thing with Sandy’s is that it’s a sick shore break. You can go 5 meters out in the water and the waves will rise and break right in front of you. We had a lot of fun that day. A lot of singalong and hand dancing in the car. After lunch we drove to a beautiful bay. It was some kind of nature reserve and to enter the beach we had to watch a video about the rules of this place. But it was so worth it! This bay was a beautiful place.

Dawn Patrol

The first Wednesday of each month stn have what they call the Dawn patrol. Early in the morning, everyone goes out to surf. This was my second time in the water with a surfboard. Chris gave me some very useful hints. Where to be on the board and when to rise and stuff. This made surfing so much easier and funnier! So thank you for that! Chris is bye the way the guy with the yellow watch.
After two hours of surfing some of us took a break with some beach volley. The sand was only ten centimeters deep and below that there where concrete. No deep dives this time..
This day was also Jonathan’s birthday, so we took a ride to Haleiwa and ate some really good asian food. I took my first doggy bag for the first time in my life. We finished the day with the best christmas calendar ever, the norweigan “Nissene på Låven”.
What I’m trying to say is that this Wednesday was awesome! Just as Johnson would have said it..

Free guided tour to the East Cost

So yesterday it was thanksgiving, with means no work. We had the opportunity to go on a guided tour to the East Cost for free. The guide lives in Wahiawa just as us. He had only three persons who was coming, so we could take the empty spots in the car. We left 5:30 in the morning and I don’t regret the early morning on the back of his truck.
During the day we did all kind of things. From hiking to a waterfall with a beautiful view, to boogie boarding and snorkeling with turtles. I think I saw five of them. In the south east corner of Oahu the view was amazing. Along the road there was a hole in a rock close to the water. So when the waves came the water sprayed up in the air like a wale use to do, but much bigger. Almost like a geyser on Iceland, but smaller. Something between them. It was a fun day with a lot of wonderful views of Hawaii. Today it’s Black Friday witch means a lot of sales everywhere!
